Windmill palm hand brush paired with a teak dustpan. Made by Takada Co., Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. In production for over 70 years.
Takada specializes in tawashi — traditional Japanese brushes made from natural plant fibers. The windmill palm (Trachycarpus fortunei) has been used in Japanese broom and brush-making since ancient times. Its bark fibers are flexible yet firm, sweeping dust and debris without scratching surfaces. The teak dustpan is paired to complement the brush in both function and material. Tawashi brushes are designed for longevity, expected to last 10 to 20 years with regular use.
