Bee, Bark & Moss was established in 2012 by Minori Shironishi and Philip Rodrigue in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We create hand-crafted lifestyle products and soft furnishings alongside a curated selection of small-batch design items from around the world—focusing on heritage, heirloom, and rare provenance pieces.
Custom inquiries for soft furnishings are welcome.
Minori, born in Tokyo, trained at Parsons School of Design and led Yohji Yamamoto USA for over 20 years. Philip, born in London, studied Fine Arts and Interior Design at the London College of Furniture before specializing in trompe l'oeil painting and furniture design in NYC.
Buddhist prayer bracelets handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan. Kobori Bugutsu, a 14th generation family business established in 1775, previously worked on the restoration of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Yasuda Nenju Ten, established in 1683, is among Japan's most respected Buddhist nenju makers. Each bracelet is composed of 108 beads, corresponding to the 108 worldly desires in Buddhist tradition.
Ready-made soft furnishings handmade in our studio in Carmel by the Sea. Each piece is crafted from natural and heritage textiles — handwoven cottons, block-printed gauze, artisan fabrics sourced from India and Southeast Asia, as well as conventional fabrics. Designed for everyday living with an emphasis on material quality, texture, and longevity.
