  • Japanese Kitchen Brush

Windmill palm tawashi kitchen brushes made by Takada Co., Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. In production for over 70 years.

Tawashi are traditional Japanese scrub brushes made from natural plant fibers. Takada uses the bark of the windmill palm (Trachycarpus fortunei), a material valued in Japan for its combination of softness and firmness. The fibers are gentle enough for delicate glassware and dishware, and effective for cleaning fruits and vegetables without damaging the skin. They are also suitable for removing grease and food residue from cookware.

Available in three forms to suit different tasks.

    Available Styles
