  • Japanese Tea • Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea)

Sourced directly from a 6th generation tea farm in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Certified organic.

Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that has been roasted over charcoal, typically at high heat. The roasting process turns the leaves brown and significantly reduces caffeine content, making it one of the lowest-caffeine Japanese teas available. The flavor is warm and toasty with notes of caramel, distinct from the grassy or vegetal character of unroasted green teas. Suitable for drinking at any time of day, including evenings.

    Brewing Guide

    • Water temperature: 90–95°C — hojicha tolerates higher temperatures than most green teas
    • Steep time: 30 seconds to 1 minute
    • Re-steep 2–3 times
