Known for paper production since the Edo period. Washi paper made form mulberry pulp. The region is home to many artisan workshops carrying the tradings of Kyoto Nishijin fabric, using ultra thin strips cut from gold and silver foil. One such workshop still utilizing this technique is Yosuke Shoten, making not only Washi paper, but cotton or silk fabric in combination. For our Body washing towel, Washi is cut into 4mm slivers and knitted with cotton yarn to make a loopy terry towel, which makes this item eco-friendly.
